We are the chosen ones. We were selected for a free trip to Montreal during July for the International Startup Festival (sponsored by Twilio, SendGrid, and Windows Azure)! Even though we applied for it, our acceptance was still unexpected and we are so psyched for this opportunity.
For those who don’t know what the International Startup Festival is, it is a 3 day annual event on the business of startups. It’s like SXSW but quirkier. They have literal elevator pitches where startup founders can get in an elevator with VCs and pitch to them for 30 seconds. And in an interesting twist they also have grandmother and teenager pitches as well. It’s a mix of business and fun with networking opportunities, keynote speakers and seminars.
Check out the highlights from last year’s festival.
As much as we are excited to go to Montreal and meet with dynamic people in the startup world, we are steadfast on making the most of this opportunity. This year’s festival theme is startups that matter. We know we are a startup that matters and we are going to work very hard to make sure that everyone at the Startup Festival knows that too. Our website will launch by that time, but there is a lot of groundwork we need to lay to make sure we have our best face by the time we are in Montreal. The next three weeks will be a whirlwind of meetings, fine tuning our pitches and figuring out a way to draw people to our table.
That’s where you, our lovely friends, come in. We want to arrive at the Startup Festival with a bang. What are some crazy things we could do to help us stand out? We’re looking for out of the box thinking. We need something that will be unforgettable, so that by the time the event is over everyone will know what Fiestah is. You can help us out and give us some ideas by posting on our Facebook page or interacting with us on Twitter. We want to hear from you.
