The Cronut. New York’s next staple food item. At Fiestah, we have taken it upon ourselves to learn everything about the history to the present day journey of the beloved Cronut. We can now say that after months of waiting and abating, these pre-ordered beauties finally landed in our hungry hands.
The lines for the Cronut were gastly. We had to find other options, any other way to taste these glorious sweet hybrids.
There were rumors that a delivery service had started delivering them for $100 per pastry! We were desperate; could this be the only option? Determined to experience Dominque Ansel’s creation without wasting hours in line and spending thousands of dollars, we figured out how to out-smart the system!! Well… actually, we waited patiently and turned to our friends at Crowdtilt. Crowdtilt helped us start our own campaign for Cronuts. We sent the campaign to our friends asking them to join in and reap the benefits of our pooled funds; freshly delivered Cronuts.
After just one month, our campaign had tilted! Now that we had the money, we had to order the goods. We followed the directions for large orders on Ansel’s bakery site and emailed them with all the information needed. We sent in an order for the Cronuts on August 1st but were denied. We tried again September 1st but were denied again! We decided to try one more time on October 1st, knowing that if denied for the third time we would throw in the towel and refund all the people who had helped tilt our campaign. But like they say, third times a charm and later that afternoon we heard back from the bakery letting us know that our order had been accepted!! Yet the waiting games weren’t over, we wouldn’t get to pick up our order for another 5 weeks!
November 12th. At last, our day had come. We picked up our order of this months flavor, Dulce de Leche Cronuts. Our party started at ZocDoc and then continued on to AlleyNYC aka Fiestah’s home.
The wait was long, the journey was rough, but the cronuts….the cronuts were perfection. You might ask, was the wait worth it? Yes. We did it once, so why not do it again?
Let us know if you want to join us for our next Cronut party!
