World Cup fever is upon us, once again! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, this year’s World Cup will be held in vibrant Brazil. Most of us might not be familiar enough with soccer, but rest assured this is THE sporting event of the year!

Need to know what’s the fuss with World Cup fever this whole month? We’ve got all the buzz for the ultimate Brazilian hospitality and World Cup experience, right after the cut!

At Fiestah, we’re mighty fans of what the rest of the world call ‘football’, and we’re stoked that Brazil is hosting! Like the rhythm of the samba, Brazilians have soccer in their blood, and it shows. They still hold the most amount of World Cup titles, having won it five times!

Folks might be rooting for Argentina’s Lionel Messi, but we’re looking out for Neymar, the Brazilian forward. Amazing footballers, and sultry supermodels (hello Gisele and Adriana!), Brazil’s got it all!

Soccer games aren’t necessarily big on foods, especially in the stadiums. If you’re watching the World Cup matches at home and a few friends are over, serve a popular Brazilian snack ‘coxinha’ (‘little thigh’). Just think of a fried teardrop-shaped chicken croquette! Nigella warns it might be time-consuming, but if tastes amazing who are we to complain? Get the full recipe here!

Heading out to watch the game, and want to fix something seriously easy (and kind of crazy good!) before you do? Try the much loved Brazilian sweet treat, Romeu e Julieta (Brazilian Romeo and Juliet)! You’ll need guava paste and white cheese like queso fresco or canastra, and stack once you cut the ingredients into cubes. Click here for the recipe!

What’s any sporting event without an alcoholic kick? Watching soccer requires high energy, and you’ll get your sugar high to power through the shouting and adrenaline with Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha! You’ll need distilled sugar cane liquor (or cachaça.), lime and lots of sugar. Don’t have the liquor needed? Replace with rum or vodka! Get the full recipes here.

Don’t have the channels to catch up on the games? Head on down to Nevada Smiths, where ‘football is religion’! If you’re not familiar with how the rest of the world deal with soccer, get ready when you’re at Nevada Smiths! You’ll be immersed in the stadium experience, with flat screens everywhere. They take soccer very very seriously, and so should you.

Want another World Cup spot? NY Post has a great list of places you can call home for the month!

Ultimately, we’re really rooting for our boys to do us proud! (Say hello to Kyle Beckerman, one of the 12 players Vogue got us looking out for) Catch them playing against Ghana, this Monday, June 16th! We’re talking after work, guys. We know you can make it to Nevada Smiths in time. A drop in productivity level is expected this month! For the full schedule, click here.

If you’re up for a proper World Cup update and commentary, check this World Cup site that just popped up! We’re no soccer experts, but we’re diggin’ the commentary (and lists!).

World Cup is on, guys! We’re ready. Are you?
