It’s the first Sunday of the month of May, and it’s time to celebrate our mothers again!
“Mother’s Day” was an idea that Philadelphia activist Anna Jarvis came up with at the beginning of the 20th century as a tribute to her mother. On May 10, 1908, Jarvis sent 500 carnations to Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church, her mother’s church in Grafton.
Send your Mom some love this May 10, and peek inside our post on how to celebrate Mother’s Day with last minute ideas:
Gift the Gift of Fresh Flowers
What better way to show Mom you love her, than with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers? Don’t just pick any type of bouquet at the convenience store! Flower Girl NYC is all about lush and whimsical arrangements with a distinct edge. Their arrangements always focus on what is available seasonally, so know you’re showering Mom with something special.
Want more selections to choose from? We’ve got a list of florists you can depend on, for gorgeous arrangements that will melt Mom for sure! Check them out here.
Anthi’s Greek Food
What’s a better way to show Mom you love her than with a plate of love? Anthi’s Greek Food may have a seriously compact kitchen, but it’s a kitchen that will serve nothing but delicious Greek dishes! Mom can choose from the Moussaka, with layers of bechamel, light meat sauce, roasted eggplant and potatoes. It’s no wonder it’s their signature dish. We love their flakey Spanakopita, which is phyllo pastry filled with spinach, dill and feta cheese. Mom will love this, for sure!
Don’t Just Text Mom, Show Up
At the end of the day, all Mom wants is a little TLC. Don’t just text her to wish her, show up at her doorstep with a big grin on your face and it will be enough!
Happy Mother’s Day!
